SLOW TRAVEL NOTES
A Town’s Hopes Ride on a Charming Bridge
Before the train carries you past, look for the frog above the tracks. Inami’s yellow frog and red bridge make an unmistakable town symbol. Learning the words behind it adds another layer to an otherwise simple walk.
Start at JR Inami Station, look at the bridge, wander public town streets, have lunch and return. The 10:00–14:00 outline is editorial, not a train timetable. Check both trains first and keep room to shorten the detour.

Begin at JR Inami Station. Official guidance lists no staffed Midori ticket office, lockers or station car hire. Travel light and check the return train first.
Photos date to 2005, 2010 and 2017. Waterside scenes introduce the historical town, not permission to enter working quays or private land. Stay out of tracks, carriageways and prohibited areas; follow local notices.

The frog bridge is a town symbol. Look from a pavement or open public road. Never step onto tracks or the carriageway for a photograph; keep the pedestrian route clear.

Wander public roads without entering homes or shops’ private land uninvited. Follow access notices by the water; working quays and port work areas are outside this itinerary. In rough weather, omit the waterfront and keep near the station.

EDITORIAL NOTE
A Town’s Hopes Ride on a Charming Bridge
The town explains five meanings behind kaeru: to think, change people, change the town, return home and prosper. It also evokes a frog leaping toward a willow as an image of effort, patience and a leap forward. Look again after learning the meaning; a modest bridge stop can change how you read the town.
