From the cat-shaped station to Hiraike

SLOW TRAVEL NOTES

Walk a little beyond the cat station

At Kishi Station, try walking beyond the building to Hiraike Park rather than turning straight back. Rest at Tama Cafe first, look at the water, then return with time for your train.10:00–14:00 is an editorial outline, not a promised train arrival.

The cat-like roof is the first attraction. Outside the station, ordinary streets, homes and fields continue. After slowing down by the water, the same building becomes the place waiting for your journey home. It is a small detour from a small terminus.

Kishi Station

Look at Kishi Station’s exterior

Check the return train first. Kishi is the terminus of Wakayama Electric Railway’s Kishigawa Line. From a safe spot, look at the roof and entrance together. Do not build the day around meeting a cat stationmaster; check attendance notices. Trains may change for inspections, so the photographed train is not promised. Keep passenger paths clear and never enter tracks or prohibited areas.

All photographs show Kishi Station at the time of photography, not Hiraike. Cat attendance, train assignment, flowers and events are not guaranteed. Follow station and road rules, and omit the park detour if tired.

Tama Cafe

Rest at Tama Cafe

Tama Cafe is inside the station. The operator lists 10:00–16:00, generally open year-round with irregular maintenance closures; bad weather or disrupted trains may also cause closure. Choose the current menu without expecting a particular item or seat. If closed, walk first or eat elsewhere. Ticket purchases have different payment conditions from cafe products.

Hiraike Park

A waterside walk at Hiraike Park

At Hiraike Park, enjoy water and open sky rather than expecting seasonal flowers. Kinokawa City lists its location, parking and toilets. This route does not promise blooming flowers or an illumination event. Follow open designated paths, keep away from unsafe water edges and closed sections, and do not feel obliged to complete a circuit.

EDITORIAL NOTE

Walk a little beyond the cat station

Station photographs tend to concentrate on the building. A little farther, the destination meets everyday town life. Decide your return train first and use the remaining time for the water.
