Lunch by the Harbor, Warmth at Your Feet: A Half-Day Walk in Kii-Katsuura

Walk from Kii-Katsuura Station into the port town, consider lunch at Nigiwai Market and pause at the free Tsukiji Evacuation Tower footbath. If the market is closed, eat elsewhere in town. The 10:00–14:00 outline is editorial; working fishing-port areas are excluded.

SLOW TRAVEL NOTES

A harbor town is best enjoyed at walking pace.

Katsuura deserves more than a quick transfer on the way to Nachi Falls. Follow the streets from the station toward the water and the shape of a working port comes into view. Choose lunch from what is available that day, then give your feet a small hot-spring break. There is room to enjoy the town without collecting a long list of sights.

This editorial 10:00–14:00 outline links public streets, lunch and the Tsukiji Evacuation Tower footbath from JR Kii-Katsuura Station. A closed market means lunch elsewhere; an unavailable footbath can simply be skipped. Boats, auctions and entry into fishing-port work areas are not part of the route.
