Kushimoto Station to Kashino: history and lighthouse

SLOW TRAVEL NOTES

Stay for the story behind the view.

You come for the sea, then pause over a connection with a distant country. At Kashino, on the eastern end of Kii Oshima, the white lighthouse and the memory of ties with Turkey share the landscape. Give both time: this cape offers more than a photograph.

Take a bus operating on your date or prearrange a taxi from JR Kushimoto Station. Visit the museum and cenotaph, pause for lunch and continue to the lighthouse park. The 10:00–15:00 outline is editorial, not a train or bus timetable. This is not an all-walking route; arrange both journeys before setting out.
