Follow the River to a Bath: Half a Day in Kawayu Onsen

River, town, optional bath and lunch
SLOW TRAVEL NOTES
Keep winter’s attraction out of an autumn timetable.
A mountain river flows immediately beside the town. Kawayu’s appeal is not just a bath: each bend in the public road offers a different view of the water. Walk past the inn-lined streets, pause where it is safe and permitted, then take a public bath if the day allows. You can enjoy this half-day without entering the river.
This10:00–14:00 editorial plan begins at the bus stop and combines a walk, optional bathing and lunch. From JR Kii-Tanabe or Shingu, use a checked bus or arranged transport; it is not all walking from a station. Treat winter Sennin-buro as another trip, not an autumn promise.

Sennin-buro normally operates December–February and can change with river and weather conditions; this autumn plan excludes it. The spring water is very hot. Digging a bath, entering the river and swimming are not included. Photos from2013–2014 show historical scenery, not current opening or access.
